Garry takes on the 100-foot Big QMC Abseil at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Garry is no stranger to working at height.

But a 100-foot drop is a very different proposition.

On Saturday 5th September 2026, Garry took on the Big QMC Abseil at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, swapping the familiar surroundings of a roof for a rope and a 100-foot descent.

This time, it wasn't work.

It was for charity.

The Big QMC Abseil

The Big QMC Abseil gives people the chance to take on the 100-foot drop while raising money for Nottingham's hospitals.

When Garry signed up, he was asked which part of the hospital he would like his fundraising to support.

He chose the Children's Hospital.

It was a simple choice, but one that gave the challenge a little more meaning.

A Very Different View From The Top

Garry spends plenty of time looking down from roofs, but standing at the top of a 100-foot abseil is a different experience altogether.

There are no tiles to work with and no roof beneath your feet.

Just the drop below, the rope in front of you and the moment when you have to step over the edge.

And that's exactly what he did.

From £500 To £545

Garry set himself a fundraising target of £500.

Thanks to everyone who supported him, that target was passed, with £545 raised so far for Nottingham's hospitals.

Every donation helped, and we're particularly grateful to everyone who supported Garry's challenge and the cause he was taking on.

From roofs to ropes — a 100-foot drop for a very worthwhile cause.
